BLUEBELLA 80/20: Approximately 115g/425 yards 80/20 superwash Bluefaced Leicester (BFL) wool and silk. This is fingering weight yarn, three plies.
These were kettle-dyed a tonal medium neutral grey and speckled with red, scarlet, chestnut, cinnamon, rust and orange. The hanks were twisted prior to speckling so coverage is relatively consistent. Regardless, this is a highly variegated colourway and each hank is slightly different. Two socks knit with the same hank may not be identical. Please alternate hanks if using more than one. Additional photos are of a different bases to illustrate the colourway.
This BFL is not "smooshy" like Merino. It is a bit rustic, hard-wearing, tends not to pill and softens greatly over time, which makes it ideal for socks (though I like it for just about anything). Blended with silk, it's dense, shiny, crisp and absolutely lovely! Try a lace project with it and you'll be thrilled with the results.
While this is superwash, I recommend hand washing and drying flat to maintain optimum colour and texture.
