BLUEBELLA 80/20: Approximately 115g/425yds 80/20 superwash Bluefaced Leicester (BFL) wool/tussah silk. This is a 3-ply fingering yarn.
These were kettle-dyed using consecutive washes of chartreuse, maroon, purple, brown and green. There are a very small amount of brown, pink and green speckles. Note that this is a tonal/variegated colourway and each hank is slightly different, as is each batch. Different bases are shown to illustrate variations.
This BFL is not “smooshy” like Merino. It is a bit rustic, hard-wearing, tends not to pill and softens greatly over time, which makes it ideal for socks (though I like it for just about anything). Blended with silk, it’s dense, shiny, crisp and absolutely lovely! Try a lace project with it and you’ll be thrilled with the results.
While this is superwash treated, I recommend hand washing and drying flat to maintain optimum colour and texture.
