MERICOT 4-Ply: Approximately 100g/438 yards 50/50 superwash merino wool/cotton. This is fingering weight, 4-plies.
These were kettle-dyed a tonal brown, then brown-grey and finally glazed with black. Because I use acid dyes which don’t truly adhere to the cotton fibres, all colourways on this base are a lighter/less saturated and may have a heathered appearance.
This is a great base choice if you like cotton tempered with a little of the squish merino brings. It’s soft and sturdy but light, with a nice hand and good stitch definition, but there is no doubt it’s cotton! It would make a lovely shawl, cowl, cape or excellent swingy sweater and would be great for baby garments. I wouldn’t recommend it for anything that requires a lot of structure or negative ease - finished items will be heavy on drape!
While this is superwash, I recommend hand washing and drying flat to maintain optimum colour and texture.
