POLLY 4-PLY: Approximately 100g/438 yards superwash Polwarth wool. This is fingering/sock weight yarn; a fine, strong four-ply base.
These were kettle-dyed a tonal deep medium-bright blue using pretty much every blue I have in my arsenal. It’s more toward the wedgewood side than turquoise. This is a slightly variegated colourway and though the hanks all share the same colours, I recommend alternating if using more than one. The pictures are of a different base but accurately depict the colourway.
Polwarth is a breed of sheep that is 75% Merino crossed with Lincoln. This is a lustrous, soft, sturdy yarn, shiny and slightly “crisp”. It is not as soft as Merino and a little more toothy. It drinks up colour in the dyepot!
While this is superwash, I recommend hand washing and drying flat to maintain optimum colour and texture.
