POLLY DK: Approximately 100g/246 yards superwash Polwarth wool. This is a 4-ply DK weight yarn.
These were kettle-dyed a grey-green then speckled with copper-brown, gold, avocado, dark green, scarlet and a little yellow. There is a lot of scarlet and a lot of bleed-through in this batch! The hanks are not twisted prior to speckling so coverage is more random. This is a highly variegated colourway and each hank is slightly different. I highly recommend alternating hanks if using more than one. Note that pictures are of a different base but reasonably depict the colourway.
A lot of smoosh with a bit of extra sheen and “crispness” this is a great all-purpose DK base. It is not as soft as Merino, a little more toothy and dense but it wears very well. From shawls and winter accessories to sweaters and baby blankets - take your pick - they all are perfectly suited. I envision it as a cozy hat or scrunchy cowl, baby sweater or big cardigan - you?
While this is superwash, I recommend hand washing and drying flat to maintain optimum colour and texture.
