KIDMO SOCK: Approximately 100g/437 yards 55/20/25 superwash Merino wool/kid Mohair/nylon, a 4-ply fingering or sock weight yarn with a good twist. This is a replacement for my previous similar base, which was discontinued by the mill.
These were kettle-dyed a tonal neutral grey and speckled liberally with navy, gunmetal, lime, chartreuse, turquoise, emerald and yellow. The navy broke or leached a purple hue in some places. The hanks were twisted prior to speckling so coverage is more consistent but it is still a highly variegated colourway and each hank is slightly different. Two socks knit from the same hank will not be identical. Please alternate hanks if using more than one. Different bases are pictured to illustrate colourway.
This is a strong, warm and slightly dense yarn; the mohair is noticeable but not super hairy. This base would be great for socks, especially if you are looking for something a bit different than merino/nylon. A little less soft than some other typical sock bases, it is still excellent for just about any knit or crocheted item: mittens, hat, shawl, sweater... you get my drift.
While this is superwash, I recommend hand washing and drying flat to maintain optimum colour and texture.
