MERILOTUS 4-Ply: Approximately 115g/495 yards 50/50 superwash merino wool/lotus fibre. This is fingering weight 4-ply light fingering.
These were kettle-dyed with washes of turquoise, lime, teal and chartreuse, then speckled with yellow, lime and turquoise. Because I use acid dyes which don’t truly adhere to the lotus fibres, all colourways on this base are a bit lighter/less saturated and may have a heathered appearance.
This is a luxurious, fine base with a gorgeous sheen and great drape. It has a soft hand and is not very smooshy/springy, much like a 50/50 Merino/Silk blend. It is slightly paler or heathered due to the lotus fibre being cellulose and not fully compatible with acid dyes. I feel it would be great for a summer knit, like a tee or tank top. With its generous yardage, it’s also nice for a shawl or poncho for warmer weather.
While the merino is superwash treated, I recommend hand washing and laying flat to maintain optimum gorgeousness.
