MERYLON 75/25: Approximately 100g/463yds 75/25 superwash Merino wool/nylon. This is an excellent offering of the ubiquitous 75/25 fine fingering/sock yarn that is so useful and versatile.
These were kettle-dyed with a wash of deep red followed by mahogany red, both applied in a very crowded pot which results in a mottled strike. Finally they were speckled with copper, brown, gold and bright red. The hanks are not twisted prior to speckling so coverage is more random. This is a highly variegated colourway and each hank is slightly different, if you use more than one please alternate. Two socks knit from the same hank will be similar but not identical. Different bases are pictured to show variations.
This is a lovely, soft (but tough!) yarn, great for just about any fingering weight project you can think of. It is perfect for next-to-skin items and baby garments. If you knit socks tightening the gauge slightly will ensure iron-like wear.
While this is superwash treated, I recommend hand washing and drying flat to maintain optimum colour and texture.
