MERYLON 75/25 (NEW): Approximately 100g/487yds 75/25 superwash Merino wool/nylon in a 4-ply put-up. This is an excellent offering of the ubiquitous 75/25 fine fingering/sock yarn that is so useful and versatile. *I have found a local supplier and and shifting over to this base which is slightly softer and with a bit more yardage.*
These were kettle-dyed In a crowded pot first a pale golden brown then a medium cool brown and finally a medium bright purple. They were finished with a bit of brown, caramel and violet speckles. The hanks are not twisted prior to speckling so coverage is more random. This is a highly variegated colourway and each hank is slightly different. While all hanks share the same colours, each is unique so please alternate hanks if using more than one. These more randomly dyed colourways vary from batch to batch and from hank to hank within a batch. This is like a cross between Sabelle and Hullabaloo. Different batches are shown to illustrate variations.
This is a lovely, soft (but tough) 4-ply yarn - plump and round with nice sheen. It's great for just about any light fingering weight project and will result in soft, hardy accessories and garments perfect for next-to-skin wear. If you knit socks, tightening the gauge slightly will ensure iron-like wear. It’s quite fine but also soft and tough!
While this is superwash, I recommend hand washing and drying flat to maintain optimum colour and texture.
