SURISILK LACE: Approximately 50g/437 yards 65/35 baby Suri alpaca/silk. This is a 1-ply laceweight yarn.
These were kettle-dyed a mottled tonal greyish navy blue and speckled with turquoise, teal, green, yellow, violet and ochre. The hanks are not twisted prior to speckling so coverage is more random. This is a highly variegated colourway and each hank is slightly different. If using more than one, please alternate. KidMoSilk Lace is also pictured as it looks very similar.
Floof, fluff, fuzz - I don’t think there is anything much lighter and softer! Suri alpaca at its loveliest, blended with silk to create a thread and elevate it to the next level. Use this held together with another base for a fuzzy halo or by itself as a lacy (or even thicker), fluffy, unimaginably soft fabric. These are a bit more matte versus mohair silk lace, but the softness is unmatched. It's a luxurious blend and a great alternative to KidMoSilk if you don’t play well with mohair (almost identical yardage, could be swapped 1 to 1).
The texture of this base doesn't allow for distinct speckling, so colourways are more mottled or variegated. Also, it does not gain much size with blocking so please keep that in mind when planning your project. Be gentle when caking.
For a long, gorgeous life gently hand wash your garment in tepid water, shape a little while wet and lay flat to dry.
