POLLY 4-PLY: Approximately 100g/438 yards superwash Polwarth wool. This is fingering/sock weight yarn; a fine, strong four-ply base.

These were kettle dyed with hanks stacked between washes of concentrated lime, teal-green and dark purple. At the end a few grains of black were dropped in the water on each hank. Note that these are highly variegated and hanks from the same batch may be quite different in both intensity and tone even though they all share the same colours.

Polwarth is a breed of sheep that is 75% Merino crossed with Lincoln. This is a lustrous, soft, sturdy yarn, shiny and slightly "crisp". It is not as soft as Merino and a little more toothy. It drinks up colour in the dyepot!

While this is superwash, I recommend hand washing and drying flat to maintain optimum colour and texture.
